MetalAlert requires the minimum of maintenance and no calibration. The detector consists of only 3 serviceable parts which are, (2) Viton O ring seals and the(1) grid. Periodic inspection should take place when the equipment is being serviced. By installing a valve in the supply line to the detector, the detector can be serviced and inspected without stopping the engine / equipment.

The 2 Viton O ring seals do not require routine replacement unless damaged or hardened. The grid should be inspected for signs of lacquering or residue buildup. This would interfere with the grids ability to detect metal particles and complete the electrical circuit.

After cleaning the grid, lubricate the O ring, re-insert the grid ensuring it is fully seated into the electrical pick-up clips inside the body. replace and tighten the end cap to 50 ft-lbs. maximum.
